If you are legally able to own a suppressor in your country and are interested in purchasing one of our suppressors, contact us directly.

If you can buy a handgun, you can buy a suppressor! As long as you are 21 years old and reside in a state where suppressors are legal, you can legally purchase one. Whether or not the ATF accepts your Form 4 is determined by your ability to pass the background check.

Yes! Suppressors are the only NFA-item that you do not need to file a Form 20 in order to travel with. As long as suppressors are legal in the state you are traveling to, you are good to go.

Yes and no. Suppressors can cause shifts in point of impact, so its up to you to mark this and compensate for it in your optics. Sometimes, adding a suppressor to a rifle can increase velocity, but this depends mostly on the load and caliber. Most of the time though, suppressors cause no noticeable change in accuracy or bullet velocity.

You have come to the right place!

If you live in the state of Idaho, you can buy a suppressor off the shelf directly from our shop in Post Falls. We will have a kiosk onsite where you can do fingerprints, take photos, and set up a trust for your new suppressor.

If you live out of state, complete your purchase online and we will send your suppressor to your listed SOT. You can use any Silencer Shop kiosk and affiliated SOT to file your paperwork.

Unknown Suppressors will not handle any of the paperwork, unless you are buying in store and an Idaho resident.

There is no difference in the physical object referred to by both terms. They can be used interchangeably.

The term ‘silencer’ was coined by Hiram Percy Maxim, who invented and marketed the first commercially successful suppressor. The term ‘suppressor’ came about later as a more “accurate” term to what a suppressor actually does.

First time’s on us. Second time is not. Fill out the Form on our Warranty page to submit a claim.

Take a look at our Warranty page which details our warranty rules and includes a form for your warranty request.

It is hard to say. On average, individuals tend to come back faster, but it really depends. This will be up to you and how you want to go about the paperwork process.

A suppressor adds length and baffles to the end of the rifle barrel, causing the exploding gases to slow down. As the gases slow down, the sound that they produce is muffled.

Individual means the filer is the sole responsible person for their NFA item. People can use it, but the filer must maintain loose control of the suppressor.

A trust will enable you to give others possession of the NFA item provided they are included on the trust and have a copy of the Form 4 and trust with them. For more information about trusts, please visit Silencer Shop.

You do not need a trust to have someone inherit your suppressor.

Our Suppressors

Our suppressors are constructed from Grade 23 (Ti-6AL-4V) Titanium using a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing process. Using a laser to solidify powdered Titanium, we can 3D print any shape–including an entire suppressor.

“Grade 23” simply describes the composition of the Titanium used. The symbols “Ti-6Al-4V”, denote that the Titanium alloy used contains roughly 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium.

Grade 23 Titanium has the same alloy makeup as Grade 5 Titanium, but with lower carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen content, making it more durable and resistant to fracturing.

There are already a lot of Titanium suppressors out there. We chose Titanium in large part because of the ability to “3D Print” with it. It also happens to be a lightweight, extremely strong metal that is perfect for making suppressors out of.

Since we can “3D Print” our suppressors, we can make batch of say 10 suppressors each with a completely different design. This eliminates the need to reconstruct and redesign tooling necessary to machine the suppressor. Because of this we can try unique designs that would have been unreasonable to create with traditional tooling. Ultimately, many of these unique designs have ended up working, and have allowed us to create superior products.

We will provide individual ratings for each suppressor. Our suppressors are built to last, but they are intended for hunting rifles. These will be typically larger sized cartridges firing at high pressures, but not necessarily very quickly. Unless otherwise stated, do not fire full auto through our suppressors.

Our suppressors have undergone rigorous sound testing with state-of-the-art sound equipment as well as intense destructive testing.

Currently, all of our suppressors attach via direct threading to your rifle. All suppressors are machined with a 5/8-24 thread. Also make sure that your barrel’s outer diameter fits within the suppressor’s size limits.

No. All suppressors are threaded with 5/8-24 threads for attaching directly to your rifle.

We rigorously test our suppressors’ sound levels using high quality sound testing equipment. To find the “loudness” of our suppressor, we take an average peak volume at the shooter’s ear when shot through a .308. A loudness below 140 dB is considered “hearing safe” by OSHA.

“Hearing safe” will vary based on caliber and length of the rifle. Just because the suppressor is “hearing safe” on our .308 testing rifles, does not mean it will be hearing safe on your 7 SAUM with a 16 inch barrel maxed out on powder.

If you want to clean your suppressor, we recommend that you put it into an ultrasonic cleaner with calcium, lime, & rust remover.

Using Your Suppressor

Back to navigation

Absolutely. As long as the caliber of the bullet you are shooting through it is equal to or smaller than the caliber of your suppressor! Be very careful with that!

Lots of people end up buying a .30 Caliber suppressor and use it on .223, 6mm, or 6.5mm. Since they are all smaller than the .30 Caliber, there are no issues. Using a suppressor that is larger than the caliber you are shooting can reduce the suppressor’s effectiveness, but not by much.

Not necessarily. A sound of 140 dB or below is considered hearing safe. You can safely shoot a few rounds through your rifle at around 130 dB without causing issues. Shooting an entire range day without hearing protection will cause permanent hearing damage though. If you plan to shoot more than you would on a day of hunting we recommend you wear hearing protection.

Exposure over time will still get you.

If you need your rifle’s barrel threaded, we can provide that for you! Please see Unknown Munition’s Barrel Threading page for pricing, information, and purchasing.

Your Order

Back to navigation

Yes. You will pay for your suppressor before shipment and printing.

In order to keep track of your purchase, you need to create an account.

In order to check the status of your suppressor, make sure you are logged into your account. Then go to your Orders page, and click View on the order associated with your suppressor purchase. On the order details screen you will see details on the current status and print date of your suppressor. Email updates will also be sent when these statuses change

Silencer Shop will tell you where you are in the steps of submitting your Form 4. Once your Form 4 is submitted, you will receive no updates from the ATF until they have made a response on accepting it.

If you come into the storefront you can have your suppressor purchased and your kiosk account setup within an hour! In the store, you will be able to use our Silencer Shop kiosk to take your fingerprints and passport photos. All of this takes between 30 minutes to an hour!

You will then need to go home and wait for your documents to be generated, sign them, and then the submission will take place. Generally the Form 4 is submitted about 1-1.5 weeks after purchase.

If you are purchasing one of our suppressors from our website, you will need to list an SOT for us to ship it to. To find an SOT near you, take a look at Silencer Shop’s Dealer Locator. If a location near you appears on the Dealer Locator, we will be able to ship it to them.

You will need to contact the SOT you originally listed and withdraw your Form 4 if already submitted. Then you will need to locate a new SOT and restart the process. This is necessary if you’ve moved states.

If you’ve moved, but within the same state, you will need to pick it up from the same SOT, unless you are willing to restart the process again.

If you purchase your suppressor in-store with us, you can buy your tax stamp with your suppressors.

If you are buying out of state, we recommend you go through Silencer Shop to setup your trust, purchase a tax stamp, and submit your paperwork. Generally you can buy your tax stamp at your SOT.

You will need to purchase your tax stamp along with your suppressor. If you are in store, that will be at the same time, but if you are not filing in our store, you will purchase your tax stamp when you go to your SOT to setup your Form 4.
